My story
I grew up in Newcastle, NSW with an amazing family as an only child. I was a sports enthusiast and lover of English. I dedicated a lot of my time to reading and writing until a horse riding accident left me with a brain injury at 16. Then I had chronic headaches which prevented me from reading or studying. I eventually began to read and write again, but not before mental illness had wedged its way into my life. I began using my writing to vent my own struggles and then to escape my own reality.
My books are usually quite dark and portray a certain amount of pain and suffering. I do believe in hope and happy endings but I like to envisage my characters going through absolute hell before they rise from the ashes. I am a huge fan of Jodi Picoult and Alice's Adventures in Wonderland by Lewis Carroll. There is a beauty in fictional stories which cannot be replicated. A quote can easily get someone through a different time or remind them of a world they enjoyed while reading.
